Abstract

The implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) in elementary schools in Palopo City was designed as a strategic effort to improve students' literacy skills while strengthening their character through a holistic and contextual learning approach. The literacy programs developed include Al-Quran Literacy as a vehicle for habituating religious and moral values, and Nusantara Creative Literacy which instills appreciation for local and national cultural richness. This study aims to describe the GLS implementation process and analyze its relationship to strengthening students' character in elementary schools. The method used is qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation in several schools in Palopo City. The results show that the integration of the Al-Quran Literacy and Nusantara Creative Literacy programs in GLS is able to shape students' character, especially in aspects of honesty, discipline, responsibility, and pride in national culture. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing a GLS oriented towards character values ​​as the foundation of sustainable basic education in Palopo City
